Enjoy a delicious Sunrise Mimosa – it’s like a tequila sunrise, but as a mimosa instead.
Sunny and bright, this twist on the classic brunch cocktail is ideal to serve year round.
But it’s also perfect for special occasions.
After all, it’s like bringing a bit of sunshine in, so we love to serve it during the winter.
Especially when we can get fresh citrus.
Enjoy a Sunrise Mimosa for brunch
I’ve always thought that the tequila sunrise was one of the prettiest drinks around.
Who’s with me?
All the yellow, gold, and red – it has such a bright and cheerful appearance.
Isn’t it ironic that most of us consume them in the evening – closer to sunSET than sunrise?
Okay, maybe I’m alone in finding that strange.
In any case, I decided that we need a Sunrise Mimosa – and this one is a winner! Y
ou get that same delicious combination of orange juice and grenadine that you love, boozed up with some lovely, bubbly champagne.
This sunrise is like a party in your mouth that goes perfectly with brunch.
Surprise your guests with this one for any special morning occasion – from Mother’s Day to Christmas and New Year.
And if you want to offer the Sunrise Mimosa alongside the Tequila Sunrise at your evening holiday party, that’s okay, too.
This cheerful cocktail tastes great near sunset, too!
Serving a Sunrise Mimosa for a crowd:
If you’re serving a crowd, you may want to set up a mimosa bar.
We’re huge fans of mimosa bars because they are so easy to set up and let your guests have fun experimenting with their drinks.
In this case, we like to start by having a few Sunrise Mimosas made right before your guests arrive set out on a tray so they can see how beautiful they look.
On the bar, supply plenty of flavors of juice along with the champagne or sparkling wine of your choice.
I like to print out a few mimosa recipes and place them on the bar so that your guests have some ideas to help them get started.
We have some great ideas for you mentioned later in the post.
Ingredients to make a Sunrise Mimosa
To decorate the glass:
- Corn syrup for the rim of the glass
- Sprinkles or sugar for the rim of the glass
To make the drink:
- ½ cup orange juice
- ¼-½ cup champagne
- Splash of grenadine
- Optional: Orange slices for garnish
Note: When you’re making a mimosa, you don’t have to use the most expensive champagne available.
Save that for when you’re serving champagne in a flute all on its own.
It’s okay to select a more affordable bottle for mimosas.
It’s also okay to substitute sparkling wine, prosecco, or cava if that’s what is available too.
Can I serve a Sunrise Mimosa without alcohol?
Yes! And it’s really simple to do so.
Simply swap out the champagne for sparkling white grape juice.
It will still taste delicious and look just as beautiful.
How to Make a Sunrise Mimosa:
If you wish to decorate the glass, I like to do that first.
Take two saucers and add a small layer of corn syrup to one and a small layer of sprinkles to the other.
Dip your glass into the corn syrup and then the sprinkles.
Now let’s make the drink.
First, add orange juice to the glass.
Then fill the rest of the way with champagne.
Slowly pour in a splash of grenadine for a fun ombre effect.
The grenadine is what gives it that beautiful sunset look.

I made this mimosa recently to try it out for our New Year’s Eve party. It was so good, and it was really easy to make. It was good for my budget too! Can’t wait to serve it tomorrow!
