Apple Cider Mimosas are one of my favorite fall treats.
In fact, I love to serve a mimosa anytime for brunch, but there’s something extra special about making this twist on the classic cocktail recipe.
Mimosas are a delicious and refreshing to enjoy a cocktail for an early brunch.
In fact, Mother’s Day simply wouldn’t be the same without them.
But if you’re enjoying a big breakfast or brunch during the Autumn or Winter, these apple cider champagne cocktails are the way to go.
They are one of my favorite fall mimosa recipes.
Apple Cider Mimosas are the perfect fall cocktail
These sparkling cider mimosas are just as delicious and refreshing as a mimosa made with orange juice.
But that crisp apple cider sweetness is much more seasonal, and pairs perfectly with all kinds of hearty seasonal breakfast dishes and baked goods.
And whether you are celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years Day, you simply can’t go wrong with apples.
I would like to offer one word of advice, however.
If you are going to be entertaining guests – be sure to have enough supplies on hand to keep you in mimosas.
In fact, depending on the size of your crowd, you may want to serve them by the punch bowl!
These cocktails are so tasty and easy to make, you might run out of supplies before you know it.
And in some families, that could be downright dangerous!
Ingredients
- Corn syrup to rim the glasses
- Sprinkles or sugar for dipping the rim
- ½ cup apple cider
- ¼-½ cup champagne
- Optional: Apple slices for garnish
To make the drink you will need: two small plates or bowls wider than your champagne glass (for the sprinkles), a measuring cup or jigger, and champagne flutes.
You may also need a pitcher or punch bowl if you’re multiplying the recipe.
Can I make the cider mimosas by the pitcher?
Our cider mimosa recipe is perfect to make by the pitcher.
Simply multiply the ingredients based on how many servings you require and the capacity of your pitcher.
Alternately, you may prepare a pitcher of apple cider and have your champagne chilling nearby so you may pour the cider from the pitcher.
Then simply top it off with champagne poured directly from the bottle.
Do I have to use champagne in this recipe?
You may substitute sparkling wine, prosecco, or cava for champagne in this recipe.
They will taste great and be especially helpful if you’re serving on a budget.
We also suggest using your finest champagne for sipping and toasting rather than for mimosas.
You can save money by using a less expensive champagne in a mimosa since the apple cider will be assisting with the flavor.
How to make Apple Cider Mimosas:
Begin by preparing the gold sprinkles on the champagne flutes.
This step is optional, but it really takes serving this drink to the next level.
Perfect for parties!
Set two small plates or saucers side by side.
On one plate, pour a little bit of corn syrup on the plate.
Pour a little bit of gold sprinkles (or gold sanding sugar) on the other one.
Turn the flute upside down and first dip the glass in the corn syrup.
Then, dip it again in the sprinkles or sanding sugar.
Turn the glass right side up and set it aside.
Repeat the process for as many glasses as you plan to serve.
Fill the glass about a third of the way full with apple cider.
Top with champagne and enjoy!
Optional variations:
We love this drink served simply as we’ve instructed above.
But it’s a great base to add some extra flavors too! If you really like to take the drink to the next level, we have some ideas for you.
You may also drizzle a little bit of caramel sauce into the glass prior to pouring the apple cider and champagne.
Then you have a delicious Caramel Apple Cider mimosa!
Some people call that an Apple Pie Mimosa!
Can I add whisky to the mimosa?
I have a lot of whisky drinkers who read my recipes, and they always want to know– can I add a shot of whisky?
Heck yeah you can!
You can always add a splash of whisky to a mimosa too for a fun twist.
Of course, it makes the drink a bit boozier, so be sure to watch how much you add.
But it tastes great!
We really love a Crown Royal Mimosa, and it tastes so good with the cider.
And if you’re experimenting with Crown drinks, why not try a shot of Crown Royal’s Royal Apple Flavor?
And of course cinnamon tastes great with apple cider, so a splash of Fireball or other cinnamon whiskey is tasty too!
A Fireball Cider Mimosa is one of our favorite variations.
Naturally, you can also experiment with adding a shot of bourbon or brandy too!
Can I make Apple Cider Mimosas without alcohol?
Yes, you may!
It’s easy to adapt this recipe to make a non-alcoholic apple cider mimosa.
Simply replace the champagne with sparkling white grape juice.
The flavor palate is very similar, and the sparkling white grape juice gives it the fizz characteristic of a mimosa.
