Makes 12 donuts
Ingredients for the donuts:
- Box of spice cake mix
- Applesauce
- Cinnamon
- Pumpkin Pie Spice
- Chocolate Chips (for both the batter and for topping)
Donut icing ingredients:
- Powdered sugar
- Light Corn Syrup
- Vanilla
- Water
- Cocoa Posder
How to make apple pumpkin spice chocolate chip donuts
Save time by starting with a spice cake mix.
How to make the donuts:
Preheat your oven to 350 F.
Spray your donut pan with non-stick baking spray.
In a large bowl, add cake mix, apple sauce, pie spice, and cinnamon, mix to combine.
Add your chocolate chips to the batter and mix to combine.
Pour the batter into the donut pan.
Bake for 12-14 minutes.
Remove the donuts from the oven and allow them to cool for about 5 minutes.
Once the donuts have cooled, remove them from the pan.
Dip the top of each donut into the icing and place them on the cooling rack to dry.
Top the donuts with more chocolate chips.
And repeat with each donut until you’re done!
How to make the frosting:
You’ll want to make the frosting while your donuts are baking.
It’s also a good idea to set up your cooling rack too so that everything is ready when the donuts are done.
To make the frosting, simply whisk all ingredients together in a stand mixer.
Add more water if you need to thin out the consistency.
After mixing, cover up the bowl of frosting and set it to the side.

- 1 cup Chocolate Chips (for the batter)

- 1 ½ cups Powdered Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Light Corn Syrup
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1-3 Tbsp Water
- ¼ cup Cocoa Powder
- 2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder

Instructions for Icing
- Simply whisk all ingredients together in a stand mixer, using the water to adjust for desired consistency. Cover and set to the side.
Instructions for Donuts
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Spray a donut pan with non-stick baking spray.
- In a large bowl, add cake mix, applesauce, pie spice, and cinnamon, mix to combine.
- Add your chocolate chips to the batter and mix to combine.
- Pour the batter into the donut pan.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes.
- Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes.
- Once donuts are cool remove from the pan.
- Set up a baking tray with a cookie cooling rack on top.
- Dip the top of the donut into the icing and then place on the cooling rack. Garnish with chocolate chips.
