No matter the time of year, I enjoy sipping a Crown Royal Whisky Sour Apple Cocktail, also known as a Washington Apple.
When fresh apples are in season, I just can’t get enough of some delicious apple flavor.
But the great thing about this Crown Royal apple drink is that you can enjoy this drink anytime; you don’t have to wait for a specific type of apple to be available in the market to make this cocktail.
Enjoy a Crown Royal Whisky Sour Apple Cocktail
Made with Crown Royal and Sour Apple Pucker, it’s absolutely delicious.
And it’s got just the right amount of sweet and sour flavors to really please the palate.
It’s kind of like an apple whiskey sour.
The apple pucker gives it enough sweet and sour flavor that you don’t need to add an additional sweet and mixer to the drink.
With a generous splash of cranberry juice thrown in for good measure, you get to enjoy some of Washington’s best flavors.
So get out your cocktail shaker and mix up a delicious cocktail. It’s perfect to serve for brunch, and we especially enjoy drinking these while watching football.
Can I make this drink with regular flavored whisky or with flavored whisky?
Frankly, you can do it either way.
But if you ask me what to mix Crown Apple with, this yummy cranberry drink will always be my favorite. (My second choice would be lemonade.)
If you love the crisp flavor of a gala apple as much as I do, I’d say use the Crown Royal Apple Whisky.
This particular cocktail recipe has always been one of my favorite Crown apple drinks.
But if you’d rather lean on the Sour Apple Pucker for the apple flavor, using traditional whisky works great too!
So is Crown Royal Regal Apple the same thing as Green Apple Crown?
Yep. It sure is. It’s just lingo.
Crown Royal’s Regal Apple is flavored with royal gala apples.
It has a green label on the bottle. But a royal gala apple is a red apple.
In fact, a royal gala apple is even more red than a regular gala apple. It’s naturally sweet and rather crisp.
But a green apple, like a Granny Smith apple is a lot more tart.
I think the main reasons people call it Green Apple Crown, is because the bottle has a green label.
I really think it’s that simple.
But if you also love that tart flavor from a Granny Smith apple, this drink has you covered because you’ll love getting a little bit of tart punch from the Apple Pucker.
I call that a win!
Do you have to use Crown Royal, or a Canadian whisky?
You don’t have to. That’s just what I prefer for this cocktail. There’s just something about a green Apple Crown cocktail.
However, you can even substitute bourbon, brandy, or your favorite scotch.
Ingredients to make a Crown Royal Whisky Sour Apple Cocktail:
- 2 oz Crown Royal Whisky or Crown Royal Regal Apple Whisky
- 1 oz Sour Apple Pucker
- 2 oz Cranberry Juice
Note: This recipe has fewer than 200 calories. However, you may substitute Lite or Diet Cranberry Juice if you would like to further reduce the calories.
Can I serve it fizzy?
Why not? If carbonation is your thing, go for it!
if you want a bubbly cocktail, I prefer to add a splash of ginger ale to the drink.
Just leave room at the top of the glass after you pour the drink and then top if off with ginger ale.
Give it a swirl or a gentle stir to mix it.
Ginger ale has always been the best soda to mix with Crown Royal in my opinion.
Sprite and 7-Up are pretty good too, but there’s just something about a good ginger ale to me that works with this flavor profile really well.
But if you prefer club soda or another sparkling soda, go for it! Let us know how you like it!
I’m always down to hear about your concoctions!
