One of my favorite summer drinks is the Cucumber Melon Vodka Cooler.
It’s the perfect drink to try when you’re looking for a refreshing cocktail to kick off your weekend
It’s light and refreshing, not to mention that the pairing of cucumber and melon is a match made in cocktail heaven!
Enjoy a refreshing cucumber melon vodka cooler
I enjoy making this cucumber melon cooler using flavored vodka.
My go-to flavored vodka for this cocktail is the Grey Goose brand’s Le Melon which is inspired by the French Cavaillon, a cantaloupe-like melon.
Now, if you are new to this cocktail, you may be interested to know that the cucumber is not at all overpowering in this particular drink.
That can happen with cucumber water, especially when the cucumbers have been soaking in it a long time.
For this reason, it’s best served right away for that perfect taste combination of cucumber and melon.
Looking for another delicious cucumber-inspired cocktail?
This Spicy Cucumber Margarita or our Cucumber Lime Vodka Collins will be favorite additions.
And if you’d prefer a non-alcoholic refreshing cucumber drink, my Cucumber Mint Infused Water is a must-try!
Ingredients:
- Melon Flavored Vodka, we used Le Melon by Grey Goose
- Cucumber slices
- Lemon-lime soda, we used Sprite
To make the drink, you will need these items: a cutting board and knife, a measuring cup or jigger, and a beverage glass.
This cucumber cooler is low-calorie
This yummy cocktail is only 172 calories as the recipe stands.
However, you may substitute diet Sprite for Sprite if you would like to shave another 33 calories off the drink.
It’s already under 200 calories, but if you’re counting, that helps to reduce it further.
Under 150 calories?
Yes, please!
Can I make a cucumber infused vodka drink with this recipe?
Yes! And it’s really easy.
If you like to make drinks ahead of time, you’ll love this.
This is also a great way to make a pitcher of the drink.
You can make the cucumber vodka infusion an hour or two before serving.
I don’t recommend infusing cucumbers overnight as they get mushy.
Slice your cucumbers, put them in a pitcher, and pour a small amount of vodka (1-2 ounces per drink you plan to serve) over the cucumbers.
Put them in the refrigerator to chill for an hour or two.
When it’s time to serve, fill the beverage glasses with ice and strain the cucumber infused vodka over ice using a fine mesh strainer.
Then add the Sprite immediately before serving.
Can I make the drink without alcohol?
Yes you may!
And it’s delicious.
You can simply leave out the vodka and add cucumber slices to the Sprite.
That will still taste great.
But if you wish to preserve the melon flavor, we like to do one of two things.
First, you can add some chunks of fresh cantaloupe and / or honey dew.
Secondly, you can use a teaspoon of melon flavored syrup.
Monin makes a great rock melon cantaloupe syrup that’s pretty close to the flavor of the cavaillon.
And if you prefer honeydew flavor, there’s honeydew syrups too, like this one from Amoretti.
Directions:
This is a really easy drink to make.
In fact, you don’t even need any special tools, so not only is it light and refreshing, it’s super simple! Win!
You make the drink right in your beverage glass, so there’s very little mess to clean up.
We like to chill the vodka and Sprite prior to making the drink so that it’s nice and cold.
Slice a fresh cucumber into slices.
If you’re only making one drink, you can save the rest of the cucumber for another recipe or eat the slices for a snack.
Fill your beverage glass with ice, and pour the vodka over the ice.
Add a couple of cucumber slices to the glass.
Top the drink with lemon-lime soda.
If you’d like, you can garnish the drink with another cucumber slice.
If you want to add another layer of flavor, you can also add a sprig of fresh mint.
That goes well with the drink too.
Serve and enjoy!
