You see this with drinks made with Blue Curacao.
If you are new to blue curacao, it’s an orange / citrus flavored liqueur from, you guessed it, the island of Curacao.
Curacao comes in 5 colors, but you most often find it as blue, orange, or clear.
But you will sometimes be able to find green or red too!
All of them lend a yummy orange flavor to your drinks and give it a gorgeous color, hence calling these drinks “electric.”
Ingredients you need to make Blue Margaritas
Makes 1 drink
- 1.5 oz Tequila
- 1 oz Blue Curacao
- 1/2 oz Triple Sec
- 1 oz Lime Juice

Make it a Mocktail instead
If you would like to enjoy a virgin electric blue margarita, you can simply replace the tequila and triple sec with lemonade.
You may replace the Blue Curacao liqueur with Blue Curacao syrup.
It will give it the same flavor and gorgeous color.
How to make Blue Curacao Margaritas
Blue Margaritas are meant to be shaken so that some air gets in the mix to help boost its color.
Shaking also helps to chill the drink too.
Before you mix the drink, you will want to rim your glass with salt if you like a salted rim and fill the glass with ice.
Put a cup of ice in your shaker or jar.
In your shaker, pour your tequila, blue curacao, lime juice, and sour mix over the ice.
Give it a good shake.
Pour the mixture over the ice in your margarita glass.
Garnish with a lime wheel and enjoy!
