With it’s gorgeous green color, you can also serve this drink as part of a Wizard of Oz cocktail theme.

It works great as a Wicked Witch of the West drink or even as a drink for the Wizard of Oz himself!

Crimes of Grindelwald Drink from Fantastic Beasts

Ingredients you need to make the Crimes of Grindelwald Cocktail

  • Cubed ice
  • 1.5 oz Captain Morgan® original spiced rum
  • 1/2 oz triple sec
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • Sprite
  • 1/2 oz blue curaçao
  • 1/2 tsp. silver shimmer dust for cakes
  • Optional: 2-3 pieces of crushed dry ice

To make the drink, you will need: a measuring cup or jigger, a measuring spoon, a bar spoon, tongs, and a beverage glass.

If you are using dry ice, you will need the appropriate safety gear for working with the ice.

Make it a Mocktail instead

If you would like to serve a non-alcoholic version of the drink, start by omitting the rum.

Then get the same effect by replacing the triple sec and blue curacao with syrups.

Both triple sec and blue curacao are orange flavored, so you can easily make a substitution.

You can leave out the triple sec syrup if you’d prefer, but you need the blue curacao syrup for the drink’s color.

I really like the Blue Curacao syrup from Monin.

It tastes great and has a gorgeous blue color that blends really well with the other ingredients.

I also like the Curacao Triple Sec Syrup from Fee Brothers.

It’s got a nice orange flavor that really helps give your drinks some extra orange flavor.

Can I safely make dry ice drinks at home?

Yes, you can.

And it doesn’t change the taste of the drink.

It adds atmosphere to the drink, making it bubbly and smoky.

But working with dry ice should only be done by adults who follow careful instructions.

You need to wear proper safety gear if you’re chipping the ice yourself.

And when you’re serving drinks with dry ice, you need to be extremely careful not to touch it with your skin.

How to make the Crimes of Grindelwald Cocktail

The Crimes of Grindelwald Cocktail is a delicious blue curacao cocktail with rum.

And be careful to protect your hands when making dry ice drinks.

Fill an 8 oz glass 1/2 full with ice.

A stemless wine glass is perfect for this drink.

First, pour the rum over the ice, then follow that up by pouring the triple sec and orange juice.

Then top the drink with Sprite.

Slowly stir in blue curaçao.

The blue curacao is a bit heavier, and it may sink a bit, so you want to carefully stir it so it’s well combined.

The drink should be nice and green now.

Now it’s time to add the silver shimmer.

This is what makes the silver color that combines to make the green and silver colors – a lot like Slytherin!

Stir in the silver shimmer dust.

You want to add a little bit at a time to avoid clumps.

If you are adding dry ice, be sure to only fill the glass three-quarters of the way full.

Adding the dry ice is completely optional and does not effect the taste of the drink.

It’s just for show, and you should omit if it you aren’t comfortable working with dry ice safely.

I can’t say it enough, adding the dry ice is optional and should only be done if you’re familiar with how to safely work with dry ice.

Using tongs, add a tiny amount of dry ice right before serving.

By tiny, we mean like the size of a small ice chip.

Think Sonic Ice size, about the size of a pea.

Stir to combine.

The dry ice will sink.

Don’t drink the dry ice!

When you serve it, be sure to remind your friends not to drink the dry ice!

You’ll also want to advise them to wait until the drink has stopped bubbling to drink it.

Note: If you aren’t comfortable working with dry ice, please don’t use it.

However, if you would like to use dry ice for show, but not put it in the drink, you may put a small piece of dry ice in a bowl of water near the drink on the bar to get the smoke effect.
