Frozen Shark Attack Cocktail with Blue Curacao and Rum

If you are on the lookout for a refreshing citrus cocktail this summer, you’ve gotta try the Frozen Shark Attack with Blue Curacao and Rum.

It’s such a delightful drink to serve on a hot day by the pool, especially if someone you know is playing Sharks and Minnows in the pool!

Make a frozen shark attack cocktail with rum and blue curacao

A red table with a blue drink sitting on it.
Dun Dun. Dun Dun. Celebrate sharks with this great blue slushie! It’s tasty and so refreshing.

The sweet and slightly bitter “orangey” Blue Curacao is mellowed by the rum and enhanced by the sweetness of Poweraid.

Blend it all together with ice for a slushy beverage that makes you shiver with delight!

The Frozen Shark Attack cocktail is the perfect choice for Shark Week viewing parties or Jaws or Sharknado movie marathons.

It’s also a fun choice for your favorite shark lover’s sea-themed poolside party.

Be sure to purchase plenty of gummy sharks when you get ready to make your cocktails.

These tasty candy treats seem innocent enough, but they have a tendency to “swim” away when you aren’t looking. Gummy candies are like that.

So if you’re a fan (or even if you aren’t), pick up an extra bag or two. You can thank me later!

Serving shark themed drinks for Shark Week

When it’s time to enjoy Shark Week, there’s nothing better than sitting back and enjoy sipping on some yummy shark themed cocktails.

We love to make this drink for Shark week, along with our Bloody Shark Bite and the Shark Bite Shot.

We even like to serve some fun shark themed cupcakes too like these super cute Baby Shark Cupcakes.

So put the Discovery Channel on full-blast watching the cave divers.

Or if you’re reminiscing about good times at Universal as Bruce swims alongside your boat, you’ve got something fun to sip to celebrate sharks.

And of course, since this drink is so perfectly bright blue and just screams summer, it’s perfect to serve for patriotic holidays too.

You know we bust this recipe out for Memorial Day Cookouts and Fourth of July picnics. It’s just a lot of fun and tasty!

Get your blue slushie right here! Make one for yourself and a non-alcoholic version for the kids!

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • Blue Raspberry Cherry Powerade – it’s one of the blue ones.
  • Blue Curacao
  • Light Rum
  • Shark Gummy

You will also need a blender, measuring cup, beverage glasses, and a straw.

You may also use the Mountain Berry Blast Powerade flavor.

We prefer the Raspberry Cherry flavor mixed with the blue curacao as we enjoy the cherry and orange flavors together a lot.

But if you like berry and orange flavors together better, that will work too.

Another way to serve the blue shark drink

Are you a fan of the Shark Bowl drink served at Applebee’s?

If so, you can achieve a similar flavor by substituting the light rum for Captain Morgan or your other favorite spiced rum.

It changes the drink up a bit, but it’s really close to the Applebee’s Shark Bowl cocktail.

Can I serve this drink without alcohol?

Yes, it’s easy to make this drink without the liquor.

You’ll want to leave out the rum and the blue curacao.

If you’re making it for kids, when you leave those out, they may be happy with it being simply a Powerade slushie.

And if that’s the case, you’ve got it made.

But it you wish to preserve the flavor from the blue curacao, you may substitute 1 tsp on blue curacao syrup per drink.

It will give it some of that yummy orange flavor.

You may also add a few drops of rum extract to the drink if you’d like to preserve the rum flavor.

A little goes a long way.

If you are making the substitutions, you’ll want to add these to the blender so that it’s well-combined.

How to make a shark attack drink in the blender:

Begin by measuring your ingredients.

Then add the ice and other liquid ingredients to the blender.

In process shot of blue curacao and other drink ingredients in a blender.
You’ll notice that the blender is well-filled with ice. To get a slushie consistency, you’ll want to use plenty.

Pulse the blender until you get the desired consistency.

I like to serve it like a slushy, so I like for the drink to have small chunks of ice in it.

But you may blend it until it’s smooth if you like.

In process shot of a frozen blue drink in a blender as it turns into a slushie.
You want to pulse the blender a little bit at a time until it gets to the right “slushie” consistency. If you blend a little too much, you can always add more ice and blend a little more.

Pour it in your beverage glass and top it with a shark gummy.

Add a cute straw and enjoy your shark slushie!

Note: If you pulse the blender a bit too much, you may find that the mixture gets a bit runny or too liquid-y.

If that happens, add more ice to the mix and blend again a little at a time.
