When you’re throwing a party, an easy appetizer to add to your charcuterie board is a Goat Cheese Log.
Smearing a bit of goat cheese on a fresh slice of baguette or your favorite cracker is so yummy.
The smooth, yet tart taste also complements your veggie and other crudites too!
Variations for Goat Cheese Logs on your Charcuterie Board
And the great thing about serving goat cheese logs is that you can really cater your recipe to the occasion and season.
If you’re serving a more formal dinner for Thanksgiving, you may want to roll your log in a mixture with cranberries and seasonal nuts.
Or for a summer gathering, you may want to roll the cheese log in some dried fruit.
Some people even like to use a chocolate ganache! Oh my!
Do I have to use nuts?
If nuts are a problem in your family, you don’t have to worry about using them.
Your goat cheese will taste delicious rolled the way we’ve suggested in the recipe with honey alone or perhaps mix in some favorite herbs for a little extra dose of flavor.
Sweet and savory is always a win!
But if you love nuts, feel free to experiment.
We find that just about any kind of nut tastes good to use in this recipe.
So have some fun with cashews, or maybe some slivered almonds (especially good with dried cranberries), or pistachios.

If you plan to experiment with making multiple flavors, you’ll find that it is more cost effective to purchase the larger goat cheese logs and cut them into halves or third than to buy several smaller ones.
How to make Goat Cheese Logs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spread pecans on rimmed baking sheet and place in oven for 10 minutes.
Remove halfway through and flip the pecans with a spatula to toast evenly.
Take the baking sheet from oven and cool completely before chopping.
Remove goat cheese log from package and drizzle with honey.
Gently spread honey with your fingers until the entire surface is evenly covered.
Pour chopped pecans onto a small clean plate.
Gently roll the honey-coated goat cheese log in the nuts until entire surface is coated.
Apply gentle pressure with your fingers to fill in any open spaces.
Transfer to serving plate and loosely cover with plastic wrap.
Store in refrigerator until 5-10 minutes before serving.
Serve with crackers and crudités on your charcuterie board – or slice into rounds to top a mixed green salad.
How to slice a goat cheese log
Regular kitchen knives can “squish” the log into awkward shapes while cutting.
Use dental floss to slice logs into uniform, round slices instead.
However, be sure to use non-mint flavored floss when you do!
