Holiday Red Sangria Punch is the ideal sangria recipe for your holiday events.

I absolutely adore a good sangria recipe.

And when that sangria is made using Chianti? Yum!

I think you’ll love our recipe for Holiday Red Sangria Punch as much as we do.

Holiday Red Sangria made with Chianti is a delicious way to enjoy a glass of spiced wine during the holidays.

Holiday Red Sangria is so easy to make.

And when you use Santa Margherita’s Chianti, you know the flavors will practically dance on your palate.

The sangria comes together quickly too.

Simply cut up your fruit, add it to the wine, throw in some cinnamon sticks, chill, and serve.

It is as easy as it is delicious.

Sangria is great for serving a crowd

It’s great to make this sangria punch by the pitcher.

But if you’re serving a crowd, you can easily multiply the recipe and serve it by the punch bowl or even fill a large beverage dispenser.

We enjoy this recipe from the fall through the winter since it has such a rich cinnamon profile.

But if you leave out the cinnamon, or if you’re a year round cinnamon fan, this sangria can be enjoyed anytime.

Thank you to our friends at Santa Margherita for sharing their recipe and photos with us.

Ingredients to make Holiday Red Sangria Punch:

  • 1 Bottle of Chianti – we used Santa Margherita Chianti Classico Riserva
  • 1 large orange, sliced
  • 1 large apple, chopped
  • 1 large pear, chopped
  • Seeds of 1 pomegranate
  • 4 cinnamon sticks

How to stretch the drink

If you need the punch to go farther, you may add 12 ounces of ginger ale, lemon-lime soda, or club soda to the drink to make a sparkling sangria punch.

This will also reduce the calories and alcohol content per serving.

If you do this, be sure to add this fizzy beverage to the punch at the time of serving.

I like to pour the sangria over ice pouring about two-thirds as much and finish off the final third with fizzy beverage.

Can I make this holiday sangria without alcohol?

Sure you can.

What you need to do is substitute the chianti.

There are a few options, and the fun thing about is that they are all sparkling.

So you’ll get to enjoy a sparkling sangria too when it is served without the booze.

I like to replace the chianti with a sparkling grape juice rather than a straight grape juice.

It’s just more fun, and I find that the sparkling juices taste more like wine than the straight up juice.

Some of our favorite replacements for red wine in sangria are Martinelli’s Sparkling Red Grape Juice and Welch’s Sparkling Non-Alcoholic Red Grape juice.

Martinelli’s also makes a sparkling apple and grape juice that’s good too.

And depending on where you shop and if its in season, you may be able to find Welch’s non-alcoholic sparkling sangria.

Also some grocery stores make their own house brand of a sparkling red grape juice too.

There are several other brands you can find too depending on where you shop.

But the Martinelli’s and Welch’s are readily available at most places.

If you need a kosher option, Kedem makes a Concord grape fruit blend that’s nice to use too.

So you have several options to replace the chianti so that you may serve this holiday punch as a mocktail.

How to Make Holiday Red Sangria Punch:

Before you make the drink, you want to prepare the fruit.

Begin by washing and slicing the oranges and chop the apple and pears.

Add the fruit to a large pitcher.

Top with Chianti.

Place in refrigerator for an hour.

You want it to have time for the Chianti to infuse in the fruit.

It’s okay if you need the sangria to stay in the refrigerator longer than an hour.

To Serve the Drink:

Add ice to your wine glasses.

Be sure to spoon some of the fruit into a glass.

It’s really yummy to nibble on some of the infused fruit.

Pour the wine over the ice and fruit.

Garnish with cinnamon stick and enjoy!
