Fun, fruity, and sporting a beautiful rich reddish hue, this Hpnotiq and Cherry Heering Christmas Cocktail is a real treat to serve up and enjoy during the holidays.

It’s also a fantastic way to use alluring Cherry Heering liqueur.

It’s a great drink to make to enjoy some fun tropical flavors like passion fruit and mango from the Hpnotiq while enjoying the cherry flavor from the Cherry Heering.

And of course, it just looks so festive too!

Make a Hpnotiq Cherry Heering Christmas Cocktail with Gin

A Christmas cocktail with a cherry garnish on a plaid napkin with holiday greenery.
You won’t believe how great it tastes to mix Cherry Heering and Hpnotiq liqueurs. It’s like the tastes were made to mix together. You can adjust the ratios if you like. Just be mindful that if you add a lot more Hpnotiq that your drink may turn purple instead of red in case that matters to you.

With a blend of fruit juices against a vodka and cognac base, the French Hpnotiq is the ideal companion for your favorite gin.

It creates a Christmas cocktail that’s as stunning to look at as it is to drink!

Using a cocktail shaker, simply combine your gin, Cherry Heering, Hpnotiq, juice, and cake shimmer with a few pieces of ice.

Then pour the drink into sugar-rimmed glasses and topped with ginger ale or sprite.

Decorating the cocktail glass

Although decorating the rim of your glasses is not a must to enjoy this cocktail, I always love to add an extra visual effect to my drinks during the holidays.

Especially if I’m intending to serve it up to friends and family.

For this cocktail, I’ve used simple syrup with holiday sprinkles to rim the glasses that I then put aside to set before serving the drink.

You’re left with a sophisticated yet fun-looking drink that can be garnished with sweetened cherries or other extras of your choice.

This drink isn’t just for the holiday season

I would be remiss if I didn’t let you know that this drink is fantastic to serve year round.

We’ve styled it for Christmas, but you can easily adjust the sprinkles that you use to decorate the glass to serve it for another holiday.

With this gorgeous red color, it’s a shoe in to serve for Valentine’s Day.

Just serve the drink as is, or use red, pink and white sprinkles to decorate the glass.

And you can do the same patriotic holidays like the Fourth of July.

Just use red, white, and blue sprinkles of course.

Ingredients to make a Hpnotiq Cherry Heering Christmas Cocktail

  • Gin – we used a London Dry Gin
  • Cherry Heering
  • Hpnotiq
  • Berry Fruit Juice Blend
  • Ginger Ale or Lemon-Lime Soda
  • Lemon Juice
  • Silver Cake Shimmer

Optional Ingredients

  • Bitters – we like either Angostura or Orange Bitters with this recipe
  • Holiday sprinkles for the glass
  • Simple syrup to hold the sprinkles on the glass

To make the drink, you will need: 2 small plates or bowls if you’re dipping the glass in sprinkles, a measuring cup or jigger, a cocktail shaker, a bar spoon, and beverage glasses.

Can I make the drink without alcohol?

Yes, you can.

This drink relies pretty heavily on the alcohol for its flavor.

But there are some substitutions you can make to make a drink that’s close to it for those who aren’t drinking.

First of all, you’ll simply omit the gin.

Then, substitute a bit of cherry juice for the Cherry Heering.

To replace the Hpnotiq, I like using POG juice.

Hpnotiq tastes kind of like mango and passion fruit, so while POG (passion fruit, orange, and guava) isn’t quite the same, it gets you there.

You can also add a splash of mango nectar if you’d like.

Or you could use passionfruit syrup with mango nectar if you don’t want to introduce the orange and guava flavors to the drink.

How to make a Gin Cocktail with Hpnotiq and Cherry Heering

First of all, if you wish to add sprinkles to your glass, you’ll want to do that first.

This step is optional, but it’s definitely fun.

Especially if you’re serving the drink for a festive occasion.

Using a small plate or bowl, add a small amount of simple syrup.

In another small plate or bowl, add a small amount of sprinkles.

Invert your beverage glass and first dip the glass in the simple syrup followed by the sprinkles.

Then set the glass aside for it to dry.

Repeat for as many glasses as you plan to serve.

Fill your cocktail shaker about halfway full of ice.

Then add the gin, Hpnotiq, mixed berry juice, lemon juice, and optionally, the cake shimmer.

Shake the drink until it is thoroughly mixed.

You’ll want to shake it for about 20 seconds or so.

If you’re adding the optional cake shimmer, you’ll want to make sure that it is free of clumps prior to adding it to the cocktail shaker.

Fill your beverage glasses with ice and pour the mixture into each glass.

You want to leave room at the top for the ginger ale or Sprite.

Top off the drink with the Ginger Ale or Sprite.

If you wish, add a dash of bitters to the drink for depth.

Give it a gentle stir.

Garnish with a Maraschino cherry and enjoy!

If you want to make the drink extra “luxe,” use Luxardo cherries instead.

I’ll be here all night folks… Be sure to tip your bartenders…

Can I make the drink ahead of time?

Yes, you may make part of the drink ahead of time and then top if off when you serve with the ginger ale or Sprite.

This works great if you’re multiplying the recipe as well.

If you’re decorating the glasses, you can do that a day ahead of time.

If you’re making the drink, I like to make it a few hours prior to time to serve it and then chill the mixture.

What you’ll want to do is mix the ingredients that go in the cocktail shaker ahead of time.

You can do this in a pitcher or beverage dispenser.

Or if you’re only serving a couple of drinks, in the cocktail shaker itself, capping it of course.

I leave out the shimmer if I’m making it ahead of time.

Then, when it’s time to serve, you’ll want to make sure that everything is well mixed.

You may wish to thoroughly stir, or even shake, the mixture again.

Then follow the instructions for pouring the drink over ice and topping it with ginger ale and garnishing as above.
