Why not try a raspberry and blueberry tequila mojito?

Every now and then, it’s time to mix things up a bit.

And this time, we’re putting a new twist on the classic perfect mojito with a raspberry and blueberry tequila mojito!

Because of the red, white and blue colors, it’s perfect for your patriotic celebrations.

And it tastes so good.

What’s different about a silver tequila mojito?

A delicious new twist on the classic mojito is to make it with silver tequila.

Add some blueberries and raspberries, and it’s so yummm!

So besides using silver tequila instead of rum, what makes this mojito different from a traditional mojito is that it is served tall.

What is a tall mojito?

A tall mojito is served topped with either club soda or lemonade.

So it sparkles and bubbles!

We’ve topped this one with club soda to let the fruit flavors do the talking.

And it keeps the red, white and blue theme going too.

That said, it also tastes good topped with lemonade if you want to make a switch-a-roo.

Why use tequila in a mojito instead of rum?

Why did we decide to try silver tequila rather than stick with white rum?

As they say, necessity is the mother of invention, and sometimes you just mix up what you have.

And Jose Cuervo’s silver tequila goes down smooth, so we decided to play with it a bit.

Et voila, you have a silver tequila mojito!

After all, tequila tastes great with lime…

And if you’re a margarita drinker, you don’t need me to tell you that.

So if you’re out of rum and really want a mojito, we suggest substituting tequila.

It’s not going to taste like a traditional mojito – or a margarita.

But it still makes a nice drink.

Do you have to call it a mojito?

Nope. Not at all.

But of course, we know that there are some purists out there who won’t want to call this drink a mojito.

Maybe if you don’t worry about what to call it, it’s even more satisfying.

It kind of depends on how your brain works.

You know how it is when you are at a restaurant and order a Sprite and they serve you water instead?

Like you’re expecting one thing and get another?

If that’s how your brain works, feel free to call it something else.

And that’s okay.

Call it what you want.

You can call it a berry tequila spritzer if that floats your boat.

But it tastes great!

So let’s make one!

I hadn’t thought to make a mojito with anything but rum, but this was good! I think we will serve this again for our Labor Day Cookout.

Delicious with tequila. We also muddled some berries into the mint simple syrup and strained it before mixing.
