Enjoy a Baileys Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

This drink is such a piece of cake to make, we’re sure that pumpkin spice fans will enjoy making this yummy beverage often.

Hot chocolate topped with marshmallows in a clear glass mug in front of fall themed decorations.

A delicious mug of Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate is just what you need to warm up on a cold day.

Not only is it easy to make, it’s also easy on the pocket book.

This drink is inexpensive, and since you can make several servings at once, you can easily serve it for your whole family or friends at one time.

And even better?

You can make it ahead of time for an event and you can even warm up any leftover, if there is any.

We love this drink for cool fall afternoons and evenings, outdoor sports events, and sipping around the fire.

And of course, it’s great for camping if you have an RV or an external power source for the slow cooker.

Do I have to make it in the slow cooker?

And of course, you can make it traditionally without the slow cooker too.

It’s great to make in a dutch oven over a fire pit.

It will cook more quickly that way, so you’ll want to stir it often to make sure it doesn’t stick.

Toppings for Baileys Pumpkin Hot Chocolate

While this hot chocolate recipe is delicious all on its home, adding fun toppings to your hot chocolate is a great way to dress up the drink.

And there are tons of amazing topping choices you can use when serving your pumpkin hot chocolate.

Try one of these delicious toppings with your own hot chocolate:

Marshmallows. This classic hot chocolate topping is also delicious on a cup of pumpkin hot chocolate.

Whipped cream. Another great choice for topping your pumpkin hot chocolate to add some creaminess to the drink.

Cinnamon. Enhance the flavor of the spices in your pumpkin hot chocolate by sprinkling a little extra cinnamon on top of your drink.

Pumpkin pie spice. Give your hot chocolate an added punch of pumpkin flavor by placing a pinch of pumpkin pie spice over your mug.

Cinnamon sticks. Dress up your drink while also improving the flavor by decorating your hot chocolate with a cinnamon stick.

Shaved chocolate. Add to the chocolate flavor of your pumpkin drink by garnishing each cup with some shaved chocolate.

Ingredients for Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

Once you try this delicious, creamy pumpkin hot chocolate, you’ll never want to drink regular hot chocolate again!

In addition to being a yummy fall treat, this quick and easy recipe only uses a few simple ingredients:

  • Half and half
  • Sweetened condensed milk
  • Baileys Pumpkin Spice liqueur
  • Pumpkin puree
  • Pumpkin pie spice
  • Cinnamon
  • Cocoa powder
  • Milk

With that short list of ingredients, you can create a truly delicious fall treat that’s perfect for a lazy afternoon or a fun get-together.

To make the drink, you will need: a slow cooker, optional slow cooker liner, measuring cup, measuring spoon, can opener, whisk, and mugs.

Note: If you don’t have Baileys Pumpkin Spice liqueur, you may substitute regular Baileys Irish Cream or your other favorite Irish Cream.

Also, if you have another Pumpkin Spice flavored liqueur, you may substitute that as well.

Can I serve the drink without the alcohol?

Yes, and it makes a delicious pumpkin spice hot chocolate drink.

All you’ll do is leave out the Baileys Pumpkin Spice liqueur and otherwise follow the instructions.

It’s really good with or without alcohol.

Since you add the alcohol to the individual mugs as you’re serving, this drink is especially great to serve at gatherings.

It makes it easy to accommodate everyone’s drinking preferences.

How to Make Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

On top of only needing a handful of ingredients to create this fall drink, it couldn’t be easier to make!

All you have to do is pour the ingredients into your slow cooker and let the Crock Pot do all the hard work for you!

Start by whisking together the half and half, sweetened condensed milk, and pumpkin puree until smooth and well combined.

In process shot of a crock pot filled with half and half and pumpkin puree and spices.

Add in the pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and cocoa powder.

Carefully stir the dry ingredients into the half and half mixture.

It’s easy to make a mess, so do so gently.

In process shot of cocoa powder added to liquid in a slow cooker.

Begin by slowly stirring to avoid making a mess with the cocoa powder.

Once the powder has dissolved in the liquid, you can whisk more quickly to fully incorporate the chocolate into the other ingredients.

Set the slow cooker to cook on low for at least one hour.

You can cook the mixture longer than one hour, but it needs at least an hour for the ingredients to warm and thicken.

Around 10 minutes before you’re ready to serve your pumpkin hot chocolate, remove the lid and pour in the milk.

Stir to incorporate the milk into the hot chocolate and replace the lid on the slow cooker.

Allow the hot chocolate cook for 10 to 15 minutes more, giving the milk a chance to warm up before serving.

When it’s time to serve, pour an ounce and a half of Baileys Pumpkin Spice into each mug.

Then pour the hot chocolate mixture over the Baileys.

Gently stir and top with marshmallows and a dusting of pumpkin pie spice or add your favorite toppings.
