A great hot beverage to enjoy is a a cup of Strawberry Hot Chocolate.
Valentine’s Day is fun and romantic, but sometimes people feel a little overwhelmed by the day.
It’s easy to feel like you have to go overboard to show someone that you love them. But really, sometimes the simplest things are the sweetest.
And this Strawberry Hot Chocolate is a perfect example of that!
Strawberry Hot Chocolate is delightful
This recipe is particularly wonderful if you want to make a lovely Valentine surprise for someone who isn’t a big fan of chocolate.
After all, Valentine’s Day is all about chocolate and flowers, right?
Not so much fun for people who don’t love chocolate.
But this recipe, despite the name, has no cocoa in it.
Hot Strawberry Milk
In fact, some people like to call a drink like this, hot strawberry milk.
Instead, it is all about strawberry and white chocolate – creamy and fruity and amazing.
Best of all, it is super easy to make and quick, too.
And when you top it off with sprinkles and whipped cream, it looks so fancy and delicious, they might think you slaved over it for hours.
Don’t worry – I won’t give away your secret!
Valentine Strawberry Hot Chocolate
While it’s definitely a pretty pink drink, you don’t have to serve it just for Valentine’s Day.
It’s really tasty anytime. In fact, if someone in your home loves Strawberry Quik, they will love this drink year round, particularly on a cool night.
I even like to make these on a nice summer night to enjoy sipping around the fire pit when the air is a bit crisp.
I like to use Strawberry Milk to make this recipe.
However, if you don’t have any strawberry milk, you can use regular milk with a tablespoon of strawberry syrup or strawberry puree.
If you want to reduce the calories in the recipe, you can use reduced fat strawberry milk, reduced fat whipped topping, and use sugar-free white chocolate.
Ingredients you need to make Valentine Strawberry Hot Chocolate
- 1/3 cup mini white chocolate chips
- 1 personal size container strawberry milk, or about 8 ounces if you’re using a full size container
- 1 teaspoon heart sprinkles
- whipped topping
Optional: You can add an ounce of vanilla flavored vodka if you would like to make it boozy.
You will also need a small non-stick sauce pan, a spoon, measuring cup, and a beverage glass or favorite mug. We used a mug that’s also ideal for Irish coffee.
You may also use whatever sprinkles you like, or none at all.
The choice is yours.
How to make Valentine Strawberry Hot Chocolate
Making this drink is delightfully easy.
I like to begin by measuring the white chocolate chips and strawberry milk.
I like to use a non-stick sauce pan for this recipe.
It helps with clean up.
Pour the strawberry milk into the sauce pan.
Turn the heat to low and begin to stir.
Slowly stir in the mini white chocolate chips.
Continue to stir frequently, yet gently, until the chocolate chips have melted.
You want to stir often to keep the milk from scalding.
Once the chips have melted and are well-mixed, carefully pour the liquid into your glass or mug.
Top with whipped cream and sprinkles if you like.
Don’t scald the milk
It’s tempting to heat the milk as quickly as possible.
I don’t recommend it because the milk could scald.
It won’t taste good scalded and the pan will be more difficult to clean.
Microwave method:
If you need to save some time, you may melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave.
You want to zap them about 15 seconds at a time, stirring in between zaps.
(Yes, “zap” is a technical term. lol)
You may also warm the milk this way too.
In a microwave safe bowl or other container, zap the milk about 20 seconds at a time, stirring and testing the temperature in between zaps.
Once the chips have melted and the milk has warmed, stir the melted chips into the milk and gently stir.
I like to do this in a bowl so I don’t make a mess and then pour it into a mug.
