This time of year the sun sets earlier, the nights get darker and there’s a chill in the air that often has nothing to do with the temperature outside.

With goblins and ghouls on the loose, there’s no better way to join in the fun of the season than with a little something Wild & Witchy.

The perfect balance of sweet with a bit of sour, this Halloween-themed beverage will definitely get you in the mood for the upcoming holiday.

Our recipe uses a simple syrup that’s super easy to make at home.

For the Wild & Witchy cocktail we used blackberries but you can make simple syrup with any kind of fruit or even herbs or other seasonings.

If you store it in an air-tight container in the refrigerator, your simple syrup will last a couple of weeks.

If you would like the simple syrup to last a bit longer, add a splash of vodka to extend it’s refrigerated shelf life.

Ingredients to make the Wild and Witchy Cocktail

For this recipe, you’ll be making your own homemade blackberry simple syrup.

Trust us, it’s easy to make and adds so much depth to the drink’s flavor.

Ingredients to make the homemade blackberry simple syrup:

  • 1/2 C Water
  • 1/2 C Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Fresh Blackberries

Note: One recipe is enough to make about 8 servings, so if you plan on serving quite a few of these, be sure to multiply the recipe.

Or if you’re making just a drink or two, the simple syrup will keep in the refrigerator.

Just store it in an air-tight container and add a splash of vodka to help it last for up to a month.

Note: If fresh blackberries aren’t available, you may use frozen blackberries.

Just be sure to let them thaw before mashing them.
