The Forbidden Fruit Cocktail sure is tempting!
There are some drinks that taste so good, you sometimes wonder if they are a little too good.
Well, the forbidden fruit cocktail is one of those.
It’s so simple, yet so delicious, it’s gotta spell trouble, in a good way.
The forbidden fruit cocktail spells trouble in a good way
The forbidden fruit cocktail takes the best of a handful of drinks and combines them into one.
I like to call this a “greatest hits” cocktail recipe.
The thing I love about the forbidden fruit cocktail is that it’s kind of the best of a handful of drinks all combined in one.
It takes the best of simple drinks like a vodka cranberry, an apple martini, or even a Hawaiian breeze and rolls it all into one.
And it’s so good!
A cocktail made with apple flavored vodka
To give it a bit more apple flavor, we’re using Van Gogh’s Wild Appel vodka.
That’s the Dutch spelling, which is apropos for this particular brand as they are based in The Netherlands.
They make fifteen flavored vodkas and even a gin.
Did you know that gin is believed by many to have originated in The Netherlands.
Van Gogh is a small batch distillery.
Thank you to Van Gogh Vodka for sharing their recipe and photography with us.
How to serve the forbidden fruit cocktail
The great thing about this recipe is that you can easily make one for yourself.
Or you can make a big batch to serve for a crowd.
It’s really nice to serve this drink as a punch too!
Multiply the recipe to serve for events
You simply multiply the recipe according to how many drinks you plan to serve, and serve it either by the pitcher or in a beverage dispenser.
It’s perfect for parties because you can make it ahead of time too!
I enjoy serving this drink for all kinds of events, but I particularly like serving it for brunches.
It’s also a popular drink for baby and wedding showers and even gender reveals.
(Just be sure to include the mocktail version for the new momma!)
And of course, it’s an excellent choice for Mother’s Day too.
What you need to make the forbidden fruit cocktail
What you need for this drink is really quite simple.
- 2 oz. Van Gogh Wild Appel Vodka
- 1 oz. cranberry juice
- 1 oz. pineapple juice
- 1 oz. apple juice
- apple slice for garnish
You will need this equipment to make the drink:
- Mixing Glass
- Jigger
- Bar Spoon
- Strainer
- Beverage Glasses
Note: If you don’t have the apple flavored vodka, you may use regular vodka and add just a touch more apple juice to the drink if you like.
Can I serve a forbidden fruit cocktail without the alcohol?
Yes, you can easily serve this cocktail as a mocktail.
To make the forbidden fruit cocktail without alcohol, we recommend substituting club soda for the vodka.
It gives it a bit of sparkle without altering the fruit flavors.
The effervescence from the club soda also makes the drink nice and aromatic.
You can really smell the different fruit juices when you add a touch of bubbles.
How to mix the forbidden fruit cocktail
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir well with ice.
Strain over fresh ice into two tall glasses.
Garnish with an apple slice.
A stirred cocktail is such a classic.
We particularly enjoy using a mixing glass set for stirred cocktails like this one:
