Baileys Chocolate Pudding Shots are the perfect dessert shot!

The closer it gets to Saint Patrick’s day, the more the world seems to fill up with green food and drinks.

But if you’d rather celebrate with chocolate rather than lime, you need these Bailey’s Chocolate Pudding Shots in your life.

Easy to Make Baileys Chocolate Pudding Shots

I’ll admit straight-up that these look and taste more like little desserts than cocktails, but don’t be fooled.

These pretty little chocolate shots are flavored with Bailey’s Irish Cream.

And while the recipe – as is – only has a small amount of Bailey’s Irish Cream, it is very easy to change the Baileys-to-milk ratio and make these chocolate shots a lot more boozy.

You can even up the booze ratio by adding in a touch of Jameson Irish Whiskey!

Serving Boozy Chocolate Pudding Shots

If you really love Bailey’s Irish Cream and/or chocolate pudding, these Bailey’s Chocolate Pudding Shots are the ultimate treat for Saint Patrick’s Day and any holiday where chocolate is welcome.

Whip up a batch in lieu of chocolate candies for Valentine’s Day.

Make your mom some of these delicious shots for Mother’s Day.

These Bailey’s Chocolate Pudding Shots look so festive, they fit right in at any special occasion from birthday parties, to backyard cookouts, to Christmas.

In fact, who says we need a special occasion at all?

When something tastes this good, maybe every day should be a Bailey’s and chocolate day!

Can I make chocolate pudding shots ahead of time?

Rows of chocolate pudding shots on a wood table.
If you’re making your pudding shots before you are serving them, go ahead and fill them up. If you’re making them ahead of time, we like to leave a bit of room at the top so pudding doesn’t squish out the top when adding a lid or some plastic wrap. About 3/4 full is just right.

Yes, you can.

Even though the pudding shots come together in about half an hour in the fridge, if you need to make them ahead of time, you can definitely do that the day before.

How long do pudding shots last in the fridge?

About a day.

If you make them longer than a day before, they don’t taste as good.

The pudding isn’t quite as creamy, and they just don’t have that pizzazz.

To make them ahead of time, simply make the pudding shots and leave off the whipped cream and chocolate shavings until it’s time to serve.

If you’re making them in little plastic cups that have lids, definitely use the lids to help keep them fresh.

If you’re making them in shot glasses or cups, you may cover them with plastic wrap either individually or you can cover the whole tray.

Ingredients to make Bailey’s Chocolate Pudding Shots:

ingredients to make Bailey's chocolate pudding shots.
We love adding the creamy flavor of Irish cream to chocolate pudding shots.

  • 1 box Chocolate Pudding Mix
  • 4 tablespoons Bailey’s Irish Cream or your favorite Irish Cream
  • Milk, cold
  • Whipped topping
  • Chocolate shavings for topping
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons Jameson Irish Whiskey if you wish to make it extra boozy

Notes: You may use your favorite brand of Chocolate Pudding mix.

We used Jello this time, but we also like using Hershey’s chocolate pudding and various flavors of Godiva’s chocolate pudding mix to make pudding shots.

If you would like these more boozy then add more Baileys (and/or Jameson) and less milk when mixing the box.

You  need the milk to make the pudding creamy, so I do not recommend reducing the milk by more than 1/3.

Instructions to make chocolate pudding shots:

Pre-Steps:

If you don’t have chocolate shavings, take a vegetable peeler and run it gently down the side of a chocolate bar until you have enough shavings.

When you measure the milk, be sure to reduce the milk by the same number of tablespoons of Irish Cream and/or Whiskey you are adding.

Line up your shot glasses or pudding cups on a tray.

Make the pudding shots:

Measure and pour the Bailey’s Irish Cream into a bowl.

Optional: If you are also including Jameson Irish Whiskey, measure and add the whiskey to the bowl too.

Mix the package of chocolate pudding and milk as directed on the package and add to the bowl.

Mix well.

Pour pudding into the cups.

If you’re prone to making a mess, you may want to transfer the pudding to a cup with a lip prior to pouring the pudding.

It makes it a lot easier.

Chocolate pudding mix in a measuring cup next to shot glasses.
While you don’t have to transfer the pudding to a measuring cup or other cup with a lip, it does make the transfer to the shot glasses or pudding cups easier. The shot glasses are narrow, so it makes for easier clean up.

Place the cups on a tray to make it easy to move them in and out of the refrigerator.

Let the pudding cups sit in fridge for two to three hours to get nice and chilled.

Top with whipped topping and shaved chocolate.
