Enjoy a Spicy Cucumber Margarita with Jalapenos
This Spicy Cucumber Margarita with Jalapenos is a spicy, sassier version of the classic Margarita, offering a fresh cucumber taste with some heat.
Pairing cucumbers with spicy ingredients creates a surprising balance.
Perhaps it’s the coolness of the cucumbers that offsets the heat of our beloved spicy jalapenos!
Served on the rocks, this margarita is a delicious way to enjoy cool cucumber flavor with some jalapeno heat.
Either way, I couldn’t resist but share this delicious cocktail with you.
If you’re in need of a fun party cocktail then this Spicy Margarita would be the perfect crowd-pleaser.
While you’re at it, why not throw in some Mexican food – geographically speaking, it makes complete sense to reunite the jalapeno with tequila since both hail from Mexico.
The flavors play off each other and enhance one another.
But if heat isn’t your thing, no worries.
I have some cooler cucumber-inspired drinks that will definitely interest you.

Do you love this spicy twist on a classic Margarita?
It will only take 15 minutes of your time to make yet promises to leave a lasting impression!
Ingredients to make the drink:
- Water
- Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
- Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice, for squeezing and for garnish
- Sugar
- Cucumber, for blending and for garnish
- Jalapeno peppers, for the drink and for the garnish
- Silver Tequila
- Triple Sec
- Fresh rosemary sprigs
You will also need the following items to make the drink: a blender, a measuring cup or jigger, a cutting board and knife, a citrus squeezer or press, a fine mesh strainer, and of course, beverage glasses.
Note: You may also substitute honey or agave syrup for the sugar.
You’ll still want to dissolve the sweetener in the water before adding it to the blender so it mixes well.
You can also try using stevia or another low calorie option for the sweetener too.
Can I make the margarita extra hot and spicy?
Sure! There’s a few ways to do that. This recipe can have so many variations!
One way is to double, or even triple, the amount of jalapenos in the recipe.
You can do that by either adding more minced jalapeno to the blender and / or by adding a larger amount of jalapeno garnish.
You can even add a dash of your favorite hot sauce to the blender.
Another great way to kick this drink up a notch is to dip the glass in some Tajin.
A cucumber margarita with tajin and jalapenos is so great!
If you love heat, you’ll love that combo.
And it’s also really pretty too.
And of course, if you want to go for the super hot option, you can always add some diced habaneros.
Habaneros are so much hotter than jalapenos.
If you use them, add a little bit at a time, particularly if you’re serving several people with different levels of heat tolerance.
But you know that a habanero margarita with cucumbers is going to be fire!
The heat from the peppers and the coolness from the cucumber is a delicious combination.
Can I make a cucmber margarita mocktail?
Yes, you sure can!
And it makes a delicious cucumber jalapeno lemonade.
What you’ll do is omit the tequila and triple sec.
Follow all of the directions as written until you get to the part where you add the tequila and triple sec.
Leave them out.
Then, you’ll need to make up the volume.
I like to substitute lemon-lime soda.
But instead of chilling the drink with the lemon lime soda, I chill the lemon lime soda separately, and then add it when it’s time to serve.
Doing so preserves the bubbles.
Directions to make the cucumber margarita:
You’ll begin by dissolving the sugar or other sweetener in the water.
In a small sauce pan, dissolve the sugar. After it’s dissolved, set the pan aside to let it cool for a while.
While the sugar water is cooling, squeeze the lemons and limes and chop the cucumber and jalapenos.
Assemble the blender.
Add the sugar water, lemon and lime juice, cucumber and jalapeno and blend well.
You want it to liquify.
You may want to taste it to see if you have met your preferred balance of sweet and heat.
It’s okay to add a bit more sweetener or a bit more jalapeno.
It’s always best to start with less and add more to taste.
Once you’re satisfied, pour the liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher.
This will remove any remaining chunks of cucumber or jalapeno so that the liquid is smooth.
Add the tequila and triple sec and stir well.
Put the pitcher in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least an hour.
How to make a garnish using a rosemary sprig
We’ve shown two ways to garnish this cucumber margarita in this photos.
Prior to serving, select your garnishes.
Some great ways to garnish this drink are to simply use slices or chunks or jalapeno and cucumber.
How to make a rosemary and jalapeno cocktail pick
Making a rosemary spear to garnish the drink is really easy.
You can really dress this drink up when you make a gorgeous garnish like this rosemary spear that pierces chunks of cucumber and jalapeno.
You can use a fresh sprig of rosemary like a cocktail pick and thread it through cucumber and jalapeno chunks.
What you do is remove the rosemary leaves along the bottom of the rosemary sprig so that it will be able to easily pierce the cucumber.
What a gorgeous, natural cocktail pick!
How to make a sliced cucumber and jalapeno cocktail garnish
A fun way to garnish the drink that’s really easy is to use slices of cucumber and jalapeno.
What we did shown earlier in the post is layer the slices with the large piece of cucumber on the bottom with the smaller jalapeno slices on top.
Then we floated the slices on top of the drink.
The ice helps to prop the garnish up.
Then add it to your drink.
And enjoy!
