And for an alcohol beverage, this Instant Pot Cranberry Apple Cider Bourbon is amazingly refreshing.

After all, it is made largely of fresh ingredients, from apples to cranberries to a naval orange.

You slice everything up and toss it in the Instant pot with fresh ginger and spices.

Add some Maple Syrup because . . . Maple Syrup . . .

And be sure to add some bourbon, too! (But that comes later – it doesn’t go in the pressure cooker.)

Our homemade apple cider bourbon drink is so perfect to serve during the fall and winter months.

And it’s festive too.

You may find yourself wanting to serve it for Thanksgiving or Christmas gatherings.

Making homemade spiced apple cider is so easy to do in the Instant Pot.

And mix in some cranberries, oranges and a nip of bourbon and you have the perfect adult beverage for the fall and winter.

Ingredients you need to make Instant Pot Cranberry Apple Cider Bourbon

  • 6 large Apples, cored and thinly sliced Gala Apples
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 Naval Orange, sliced
  • 4 Cinnamon Sticks
  • ½ tsp. Whole Cloves
  • 2 Whole Star Anise
  • 2” inch knob of Fresh Ginger, thinly sliced (optional)
  • ½ cup of Maple Syrup
  • ½ gallon of Water
  • 1 1/2 cups bourbon

Make it a Mocktail instead

It’s so easy to make this drink as a mocktail.

When you serve it, you simply omit pouring the bourbon in your cup and you have a delicious, homemade spiced cider.

It’s that easy!

If you are serving both a non-alcoholic and an alcoholic version at an event, I like to let my guests spike the drink themselves.

That way, you know that those drinking from your beverage dispenser are getting the correct drink.

And those who choose to imbibe can do so easily by mixing it themselves.

How to make the Cranberry Apple Cider Bourbon

Thinly slice all the apples (remove the stems), cranberries, and the orange (leave the peel on) and place it the instant pot.

Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and ginger to the Instant Pot.

Add the water.

The water should cover the fruit.

Now add the maple syrup.

Stir it well to combine.

Put the lid on, making sure that the pressure valve is in the “Sealing” position.

Select the “Pressure Cook” mode.

Set the time to 15 minutes.

Do a natural release for 15 minutes.

Then do a quick release.

Strain the fruit from the cider.

Add your Bourbon.

Stir it again.

Allow to chill for 2 hours or you can serve hot.

If you’re mixing or serving it hot with alcohol, be sure to take the drink’s temperature prior to mixing it with the alcohol.

You don’t want the alcohol to evaporate.

Alcohol evaporates at 172 degrees Fahrenheit, so you want to make sure it’s below that prior to mixing the bourbon with the cider mix.

This was so good. I made this apple cider bourbon a few months ago, and I got some out tonight and it was still so good!

Can you make this on the stove if you don’t have an instant pot? Would you just bring to a boil then simmer for 15 minutes?
