Spiced Rum Milk Shots are Perfect for New Year’s Eve Parties
These little milk shots are a sparkly wonder, with their fetching little garnish of silver and gold sprinkles.
Better yet, the sprinkles stick to the glass thanks to an application of delicious vanilla cake icing.
So, if you notice that people are nibbling the edges of their shot glass, you can’t really blame them.
These little shots are like a small serving of a yummy spiced rum milk punch.
They are really tasty, and are absolutely delicious served very cold.
Great shots for your NYE party
Be sure to make enough of these New Year’s Eve Milk Shots for your party, because they are bound to be popular.
Or, alternatively, make just enough for each of your party guests to have one, which they can use to toast each other at midnight.
What a sweet way to ring in the brand new year!
How to serve milk shots:
If you’re making these shots for a party, I like to make them ahead of time and refrigerate them until it’s time to serve.
You don’t want a creamy drink to be served at room temperature.
What I do is make up a tray with a dozen or shots per tray the night before and keep them in the refrigerator.
I cover the shots by tenting some cling wrap so that it doesn’t touch (and therefore remove) the icing and sprinkles from the shots.
The shots are particularly tasty served ice cold.
So if you’re only making a few and will be serving them soon, you can also put a small tray in the freezer if yours accommodates that.
Ingredients to make Spiced Rum Milk Shots:
Makes 6-8 shots
● 1 c. Milk
● ⅓ c. Heavy whipping cream
● ⅓ c. Spiced rum
● ¼ c. Powdered sugar
● 1 tsp. Vanilla extract
● Silver and gold sprinkles
● White cake icing
● Shot glasses
You will also need a mixing bowl, a hand mixer or immersion blender and shot glasses to prepare the milk and rum shots.
You may also want to spread the icing and sprinkles onto plates or wide rimmed bowl to make it easy to dip your shot glasses into.
Can I make rum milk shots without alcohol?
Yes, you can.
What you will want to do is use rum extract in place of the spiced rum.
In this case, less is more.
Extracts pack a punch of flavor, so I suggest that you try a little at a time, taste, and see if you would like to add more.
I would suggest starting with 1 teaspoon of rum extract and go from there to see how you like it.
How to Make Spiced Rum Milk Shots:
Place the milk, heavy whipping cream, spiced rum, powdered sugar and vanilla extract into a mixing bowl, and beat on high for 1-2 minutes.
Place the mixture into the freezer while you prepare the shot glasses.
Dip the lip of each shot glass into the white cake icing, coating the rim well.
Roll the icing dipped shot glass rim into the silver or gold sprinkles.
Allow the icing to harden.
Pour the cold drink mixture into the shot glasses, and serve immediately.
