Traditionally, a Corpse Reviver is basically a “hair of the dog” sort of drink.
Said to be “strong enough to revive a corpse”, this cocktail is designed to help lift you out of a hangover from too much fun the night before.
But for me – especially around Halloween – I imagine this Blueberry Whiskey Corpse Reviver to be something you might wish to take to the graveyard some dark night.
With nefarious intentions, of course.
Raise your spirits with our Blueberry Whiskey Corpse Reviver
This is definitely a fun cocktail to serve at barbecues and dinner parties – especially those with a Halloween theme.
No matter how spooky the name is, though, this drink is sweet.
Literally. Blueberry Whiskey joins quite nicely with Apple Brandy and Sweet Vermouth.
Splash in some Angostura Bitters to taste and you have yourself one delectable – and yes, strong – cocktail.
Be careful with this one, folks. It’s deceptive.
The only ingredient in this drink that isn’t alcoholic is, well, the ice cubes…
You definitely want a designated driver.
Of course, what fits Halloween better than a drink that looks and tastes sweet, but might just be danger in disguise?
The Blueberry Whiskey Corpse Reviver is great for Halloween
I couldn’t resist… I styled this drink for Halloween too!
Even though a Corpse Reviver is not a Halloween drink, it just kind of says Halloween in the name.
Ingredients you need to make a Blueberry Whiskey Corpse Reviver
Makes 1 drink
- 2 oz Blueberry Whiskey
- 1 oz Apple Brandy
- 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
- 4-5 Dashes of Angostura Bitters, to taste
- 2 Orange Wheels
Note: You may adjust the amount of apple brandy based on your personal preference.
If you like a sweeter drink, use more apple brandy.
Do I have to use blueberry whiskey?
If you do not have blueberry whiskey, you may use your favorite whiskey or bourbon.
Then add 1/2 to 1 tsp of blueberry syrup or blueberry puree to the drink.
If you’re wondering where we got our blueberry whiskey, it’s from a Southern California distillery.
The blueberry whiskey we used is from a small batch distillery in Ramona, CA called San Diego Sunshine.
They are really small, and I don’t think that they even have a website yet.
But if you’re in the neighborhood, don’t pass up a chance to pick up a few bottles of their local whiskey.
This whiskey is technically a “blueberry honey whiskey” and is absolutely delicious served on its own too.
The whiskey has fresh blueberries in it giving it a gorgeous color and flavor profile.

Hi, I’m Jennifer. I love to cook and entertain. I have a lot of fun sharing traditional food and drink recipes as well as putting a new spin on the classics. I strive to provide easy to make recipes that are perfect for the home cook, bartender and entertainer.
A note about making this drink. It will still taste delightful if you make it with your favorite whiskey or bourbon. I’ve made it with Woodford Reserve, and it’s delicious. It has a different flavor profile, but I think you’ll like it as well if you can’t find blueberry whiskey or don’t have blueberries on hand.
