Is there anything more perfect to sip on to get you in the mood for fall than some delicious apple cider? Well, maybe some caramel apple sangria made with apple cider and wine.

Apple cider on its own is so good, but when you add in some warmth from a creamy white wine and add some caramel vodka?

Now we’re talking about fall! So many fall flavors! YUM!

Caramel apple sangria is perfect to serve for your fall brunches and parties.

It’s even great for a Halloween party or served at Thanksgiving.

It’s the perfect, versatile fall go-to drink to have on rotation. Some people even call it apple pie sangria or caramel vodka sangria.

Caramel Apple Sangria, aka Apple Pie Sangria, is a versatile go-to drink to have on rotation for your fall events.

Caramel Apple Sangria is easy to make and perfect for fall

Sangria made with Caramel and Apples also known as apple pie sangria

Thankfully, this drink is so easy to make. That’s great because we all know that fall is super busy. School’s back in session, and people are starting to plan for the holidays. Don’t even get me started on football season. So making a drink that’s going to need a lot of crazy ingredients and skills may not be on the agenda.

Ingredients:

Caramel vodka and apple cider seem like they are just meant to go together!

Add in some wine, spices, and apples, and you’ve got yourself one yummy drink to enjoy.

  • 750 ml bottle of white wine- Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio
  • 1 ½ cups caramel flavored vodka
  • 6 cups apple cider
  • 5-6 medium apples, cored and chopped
  • 1 tsp cinnamon or apple pie spice, optional

Note: If you want to serve the sangria sparkling, you can always add a bit of ginger ale to taste to give it a bit of fizz.

If I’m adding ginger ale, I like to add it after pouring the sangria in the beverage glass.

That’s a nice way to make sure the fizz is nice and fresh.

Make it a caramel apple punch mocktail

Indulge in a yummy caramel apple pie mocktail!

This recipe is so easy to modify to serve without alcohol.

Since you won’t be getting the caramel flavor from the vodka, you’ll want to substitute in 1 cup of caramel simple syrup.

If you want to get fancy, there are some great Himalayan sea salt caramel syrups that are really good.

Making Caramel Apple Sangria into a mocktail will work.

It will be more like a caramel apple punch instead.

What you want to do is replace your bottle of wine with ginger ale.

I like ginger ale in caramel apple punch as it has more flavor and warmth than substituting lemon-lime soda or club soda.

If you really want to warm up the flavor, use some spicy ginger beer instead of ginger ale.

That will really give it some kick and taste fantastic.

Caramel Apple Sangria is easy to make

In a large pitcher, combine wine, vodka, and apple cider.

Add 3-4 medium apples, chopped and cored.

Muddle the sangria a bit to infuse some of the fresh apple flavor.

Pour into a glass, over ice, and add additional chopped apples to each glass, if desired.

You could also freeze a few of the chopped apples to reduce the need for ice!

Do I have to use caramel vodka to make this sangria?

You don’t have to use caramel vodka in this sangria recipe, but it’s important to note that that’s where the caramel flavor is coming from.

So if you don’t want caramel flavor, you can use regular vodka and you’re all set.

In fact, doing so makes a really delicious apple cider sangria with vodka.

But if you want some caramel flavor and you don’t have caramel vodka on hand, you can substitute some caramel syrup.

If I’m using caramel syrup, the easiest way to do this is to add a dollop to each glass before I add the ice and then stir it in.

It may not dissolve since the sangria is served cold, so if you want to warm up the caramel syrup a bit before adding it to the glass, that’s helpful.

You can also put the syrup on the glass itself.

To add syrup to the glass, pour a small amount of caramel syrup to a plate.

Turn your beverage glass upside down and dip it directly into the syrup.

Flip the glass back over and it will run down the side of the glass.

So you’ll get a taste of caramel with each sip!

Can I serve the cider sangria warm?

Yes you can!

To start, mix the caramel vodka and wine together in a pitcher and add the apple slices.

This will give the apple slices some time to infuse while you’re warming up the cider.

What you want to do is to warm up the apple cider and spices separately from the wine and vodka – then add the alcohol.

The reason you don’t want to add the alcohol while the cider is warming up is due to evaporation.

Alcohol evaporates at 172 degrees Fahrenheit.

To warm the cider, I like to do this either in a dutch oven on the stove top or in a crock pot.

To avoid evaporation, use a candy thermometer or other cooking thermometer to make sure that the apple cider mixture is below 172 prior to serving.

Once it’s at the correct temperature, pour the caramel vodka and wine mixture into the dutch oven or crock pot.

Stir it well so that the vodka and wine mixture also warms up. This will also cool the cider down a bit.

And now you have a delicious mulled caramel apple cider sangria!

Just use a ladle to mix it into a mug or beverage glass and enjoy!

So good! I know this sangria looks kind of fall-y, but the apple pie taste is just right to serve as a dessert sangria over ice in the summer. I’ve made it a couple of times now, and it’s really good.
